A note from the author

I wrote this book because I lived this story. I came here carrying the values of my home culture and wanted my children to carry them too. But reaching them in the world they were growing up in took tools I had to learn.

This book is what I wish someone had put in my hands earlier. Whatever culture you come from — this story belongs to all of us.
